The Children's Chapter
Were you able to make it to the Children's Chapter on Saturday?
Have you read Adventures on Amelia Island: A Pirate, a Princess and a Buried Treasure?
Come on in and check it out!
Kimberly Willis Holt read her new picture book The Adventures of Granny Clearwater & Little Critter and a chapter from her popular series Piper Reed Navy Brat.
Guess who Piper Reed is based on? Did you think it would be Kimberly Willis Holt? Nope! Piper Reed is based on her younger sister. The character Tori is actually based on the author!
After her presentation, Ms. Holt was available to sign some of her books.
Come in and check some out- see if you can find the ones with her signature in them!
Dr. Katie Monnin (the coolest UNF professor ever!) talked about why graphic novels are awesome, important reads for kids.
She also talked about her upcoming book Teaching Early Reader Comics and Graphic Novels as well as her book Teaching Graphic Novels: Practical Strategies for the Secondary Ela Classroom.
They are both really cool, useful books for teachers as well as anyone who wants to be able to talk about how and why to use graphic novels with kids.
And did you spot Clifford? Our favorite big red dog made an appearance, delighting children throughout the day.
These were just a few of the great things Saturday had in store. Keep an eye out for upcoming programs- you just never know who you'll find at the library!

Work! Work! Work!
How I hate it! Hate it! Hate it!
No sooner were these words out of her mouth than there came a knocking at the door...
Knock! Knock! Knock!
